When i saw this and all these great movie stars coming out of nowhere i was like wharrt? Never even heard of the damn film till i saw it on skymovies.

At least appreciate the fact that they are still a band and still making new music for you. I hate this smug attitude people have over change. Bands shouldn"t stay the same style for years and years, it would get boring and stale. Contagion fmovies. The virus in contagion may be inspired by real events but the virus itself is beyond far fetched. They"re basically making the argument that a new unknown virus will emerge that has the interhuman communicability of influenza, the lethality of at least smallpox (actually as depicted it approaches marburg) and an incubation period shorter than anything else observed. The extremely short incubation period would aid in containment because the infected could be identified and quarantined rapidly so the epidemic would tend to burn itself out. Also the breakdown in services is unrealistic because if the virus actually had a mortality rate similar to smallpox then there would be survivors that could resume work without fear of infection.
I"m not gonna lie I had nightmares for almost a week after watching that in 6th grade health class. Just saw CONTAGION and it was not really as dull or boring as what many of the reviews were written about it. Well, draggy maybe due to its prolonged scenes of endless conversations. Yet the only word that came to mind while watching it was "engaging" but not in the "edge- of-your-seat-adrenalin-pumping" kind. The premise of the film appeared to be somewhat similar to the 1995 Wolfgang Petersen"s OUTBREAK yet this Steven Sodebergh"s version of a viral epidemic was a much milder treatment.
And true to its tagline, NOTHING SPREADS LIKE FEAR" CONTAGION is a plot-driven film where multi-level characters, not only within the medical profession, but from the media right up to politicians and the military were involved.
The engaging thing about CONTAGION is how realistic the film was made so much so that it looked like docu-drama showing re-enactments based on true stories; only with high profile celebrities. As a matter of fact, I see the presence of those celebrities like Matt Damon, Gwenyth Paltrow, Laurence Fishburne, Jude Law and Kate Winslet as being completely unnecessary. To me, their involvement in this film is like making a "matte poster looks much glossier" so to speak; and to increase the box office revenue. Other than that, the premise of CONTAGION is a standalone good feature.
In fact, the storytelling aspect of it was so compelling that we, the audience, are pulled in right into the epicenter of the investigations of the mysterious viral infection. Where, in such familiar cases like the SARS and H1N1, we are but merely bystanders being informed of those diseases but CONTAGION really pulled us right into the hot zones where patients and medical workers are struggling with the epidemic.
And I was gravely mistaken when I prematurely doubt Steven Soderbergh"s competency in making such a film as this CONTAGION. He is clearly one of those filmmakers that makes better movies with drama with realism like TRAFFIC and ERIN BROCKOVICH than action- adventure heist movies such as the OCEAN"S series.
( SPOILERS. Another brilliance of CONTAGION is the non-linear storytelling was presented where it began straightaway into "Day 2" of the infection and everything afterwards just became chaotic (the viral infection i.e., not the story. As the audience become more and more curious throughout the entire movie in finding out the source of the infection, the whole mystery, like in many twisted stories, was only revealed at the end. This is also where a major disagreement comes in where many reviews stated the ending as anti-climax. Personally, I beg the differ. That is how I"m convinced Soderbergh had made a good film indeed where he did not spoon-feed his audience but rather compelled them to think once in a while.
Contrary to the many opinions of the movie being boring or dull is clearly overrated. You just have to clear your mind and not expect every single film that you see at the theater of this nature would be an intense thriller.
The only thing I can describe about CONTAGION is that it"s THE SOCIAL NETWORK meets CSI.
But if there"s only thing that I"m really disappointed about is that the movie is not shot in widescreen.
